Cervical Screening - Help Us Help You

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, yet in England two women die every day from it. Screening can help stop cancer before it starts.

Screening should take place every 3 years for those aged between 25 and 50 however you may be invited slightly earlier for your first screening. Those aged 50 are then called every 5 years until the age of 60.

Screenings itself takes just a few minutes during your 20 minute appointment with the nurse, it may be uncomfortable but it is completely painless. There is no need to be embarrassed or scared, our nurses are friendly professionals here to help keep you and your cervix healthy!

If you have been vaccinated against HPV, you should still attend your screening.

Please don’t ignore your cervical screening invite and if you missed your last one, call the practice now on 01296 468580 and our Patient Services Team will be happy to book you an appointment or advise when your next screening is due.
